Born in the south of France, Tamara Karoli is a German analogue photographer living and working in Berlin and the French coast. Daughter of experimental musician Michael Karoli (CAN) and her Irish-Kenyan mother, she grew up in a creative and musical surrounding, deeply connected to the rhythms of wild nature and song.

Out of her love for illustration grew her curiosity for photography, leading her to study in Cologne and Lyon at l´École de Condé of Arts & Design, and complete a degree at the Berliner University of Applied Arts. She quickly moved away from conventional, all too realistic digital photography to film, delving deeper into the analogue world. Always influenced by her rich and multi-cultural upbringing, she loves traveling and is deeply moved by the beauty and mystery of nature she seeks to express through her dreamscapes.

She continues to work and experiment in her darkroom with cameras, chemicals and alternative processes, searching for the intangible in tones, colour and texture.
